Safety and security is a commodity that is highly valued in society, you’re often surrounded by large groups of strangers, travelling in large numbers in small machines, like aeroplanes, trains and buses. But are the safety measures in place keeping you safe? Or is it just showmanship, better known as security theater?
Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani brought the idea of a twelve-digit unique identity biometric number, the Aadhaar number, into existence in India, with the idea of making a difference in the lives of about 119,22,59,062 people. The idea was to make sure these people were delivered with the benefits and subsidies provided by the Government of India directly, without any mediators cashing in on them.

You checked your online banking statement and the horror struck you right there. You have unauthorized transactions debited from your account or credit card without you knowing it! You immediately stormed out of the house, went straight to your bank and then questioned them regarding the unauthorized transactions. Data laws have been all over the charts. The Senate passed a law three weeks ago stating that ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are allowed to sell your browsing data to 3rd party ad agencies. Other countries have entire areas of the web completely blocked from view. How can we maintain internet privacy when the odds are stacked against us, the average citizen?
