International Day for the Abolition of Slavery 2016

It’s only on December 2th 1949 that the United Nations Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others was adopted. This is why we celebrate the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, but even after all this time, too many people are still suffering from slavery. We can think of human trafficking, child labour with pitiful conditions, bonded labour, sexual exploitation, forced marriage and recruitment of children for the benefit of some groups in armed conflict.

#EndRapeCulture Protest in Quebec, Canada

Thousands of people across the province marched for the end to rape culture and violence against women. Supporters rallied in many cities such as Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Gatineau and Chicoutimi. We went to show support at the demonstration in Montreal at Place Emilie-Gamelin.
